Straight from the Toronto and New York film festivals, this is a moving and humorous exploration of art in the lives of everyday people. Legendary filmmaker Agnès Varda and photographer JR travel the French countryside and encounter people and places that become the subjects of their public art installations. The projects consist of photographic portraits that depict the towns' inhabitants in a positive and unifying way, and their honest curiosity provides an overarching message about art's potential to bring people together.
“Sheer perfection. French New Wave veteran Agnes Varda and the young photographer JR leap fearlessly into the art of making art in the year's best and most beguiling doc.” - Rolling Stone
